GCSE Media Assessment:LR Response
1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).
WWW: This is a strong start in your first media assessment and with a couple of adjustments to exam technique you would have scored even higher here. You clearly understand how median products communicate meanings so now we need to target those top levels and grades.
EBI: Exam technique: read the question! Make sure you understand what it is asking you then stay focused on that throughout.Think about how you organise your writing. Paragraphs will help you to organise higher-mark answers and hopefully help avoid repeating points too.
2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question: Q1) 0
Q2) 1
Q3)5
Q4)1
Q5)5
Q6)4
3) Identify one of your stronger questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.
One of my strongest questions was the the 6 marker and i think i did better of this question because i followed what the questions asked me. The only reason why i was one mark off was because i didn't trust my gut in my first answer.
4) Identify one of your weaker questions. Why did you score lower on this particular question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.
My weakest question has to be my first question, as i had to differentiate between connotation and denotation,. It was an easy mark yet i panicked under the exam pressure.
5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail.
5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail.
One connotation that i can see is the entirety of the advert is surrounded by the colour red, it could convey that she is powerful so the colour red could symbolise power in this context. Also the way that the colour red is used in this context reinforces the stereotype that sex sells. When it comes to the colour red and the connotations that come with it , women have always been the centre of it. Such as femininity and being promiscuous. In the add she is also showing alot of her cleavage and the dress is very short, showing her inner thighs and the dress is a silky red which is how they show femininity in the colour red.
Another connotation is the Typography in the add. The upper case serif Typography of the word "HEAT" which suggests class, sophistication and style. Those are words that which contradict with my first paragraph on the colour red, even though the word "HEAT" is in red. Also the shape of the bottle could connote back to the fact that sex sells and could convey that a slim figure is the epitomy of femininity is being slim and sexy. Which could create a different set of problems itself.
