2) Look at page 3. What is the target audience for KISS FM? As well as writing the key statistics from the media pack, try and suggest what psychographic groups would fit the KISS audience too.

6) Are listeners to the KISS Breakfast show active or passive? You can argue this point either way - explain your opinion in your answer.

7) Now think about the clips you've watched or listened to of the KISS FM Breakfast show with Jordan and Perri. What audience pleasures are offered by the KISS FM Breakfast show? Use Blumler and Katz Uses and Gratifications theory here.

8) How have audiences changed in terms of how they listen to music and radio since the 1960s?

During the 1960s there was essentially only one way to listen to the radio which was only radio , weather it be pirate or legal radio station. However now there are multiple platforms you can engage with radio content. Using streaming services and festivals.

9) How does the KISS FM Breakfast show contrast with Tony Blackburn's 1967 Radio 1 Breakfast show and the launch of BBC Radio 1?

Eventhough after both stations were legalised they were promoted for young people to young people. However KISS Breakfast is targeted towards the young people of this day and age who come from all over the world with different ethnicities , races , genders and sextualities , making the station a non-controversial part of society. Which is why the presenters are two black men , to convey the change in society with acceptance.  Whereas Tony Blackburn's 1967 Radio 1 Breakfast and the launch of BBC Radio 1 is presented by a white man playing generic songs of the time which is targeted towards mostly white rebellious teenagers of the time. So both shows contrast in the fact that they both cater to and represent the society that majority lived in at the time, following the trend and keeping up with the times.

10) Use Stuart Hall's Reception theory to offer a preferred and oppositional reading of the KISS FM Breakfast show. For the preferred reading, why do fans love the show? On the oppositional side, why might someone criticise the show or not want to listen?

The preferred reading for KISS FM Breakfast is that it's cool and inclusive station , which is why fans may love it so much as they target everyone's interests . However the oppositional could be that the station is too mainstream and some may not like the artists or music in general and they may only like niche music like indie rock or something more hardcore.
